Discussion topic:
Discuss the development, attributes, and process of the era of English Colonization and differences in the developing colonies and regions that form the basis of future American development.
Key questions: What were the three major areas or regions of British colonization, and how did these regions differ? What specific colonies emerged – ones based upon agriculture, those started by religious separatists, or a combination? How important was plantation agriculture, and how did slavery emerge? What were the emerging key crops that plantation agriculture relied upon – and was it different in different areas? In the northern colonies, how did the religious groups dominate the colonies (think Massechusetts Bay and the Puritans), and how were they different than the southern colonies? How was the relationship with the Native Americans – particularly in the Massachusetts Bay Colony?
