Transformational Leadership Theory versus Situational Leadership.
Leadership is the ability to influence others to maximize their efforts to achieve a given goal. In public health, leadership aspects and trend are too fluid to be pinned down on a single quality. Effective leaders establish relationships with others, inspiring and empowering them to work as a team to reach common objectives. Good leaders often thrive when they can convince others to reflect on the issues affecting them jointly. Thus, successful leadership requires productive support and empowerment between leaders and subjects/ workers to facilitate the exchange of ideas. Whenever people work together and exchange skills, they make essential decisions and employ adequate prowess to achieve their full potential and commit to organizational goals and objectives. Healthcare professionals work in different situations full of daily challenges. They require proper decision-making skills and other leadership attributes to overcome the problems and address the health needs of individuals and communities. However, becoming an effective leader is a lifelong process that entails understanding various leadership theories and approaches (Rath, & Conchie, 2013). A leadership theory outlines how persons become leaders, including changing their traits and behavior to improve their leadership skills and abilities. For instance, leadership theories instill solid ethics and high moral standards in individuals aspiring to become future leaders. Public health leaders can apply different leadership theories depending on the uniqueness of the challenges they face. This paper analyzes and compares two leadership theories, transformational leadership theory and situational leadership, and their significance in public health professionals.
Public healthcare should be at the forefront to initiate and facilitate change. They need to influence and empower other healthcare workers to address the health needs of individuals or communities. Transformational leadership theory is a model that inspires leaders to inspire others to realize the goals and success of an organization. According to Rowitz (2014), transformational leaders have the mandate of instilling confidence and raising the morale of their employees to achieve the set goals and objectives. Public health leaders can employ this leadership theory to transform other employees to become dynamic and productive when addressing the health needs of patients and communities. This begins by identifying the strengths and weaknesses of every healthcare worker and guiding them to achieve a shared vision. Generally, transformational leadership theory is inspirational and encourages teamwork. However, this is only achievable when a common goal/ purpose is achieved. In other words, transformational leaders embark on unifying members to work together as a single unit rather than many separate units. This outlines why public health leaders invite different experts, including researchers and medical professionals, to develop mechanisms to reduce disease morbidity and mortality in other parts of the globe.
Unlike transformational leadership theory, which focuses on changing and inspiring others to achieve a goal, situational leadership theory outlines that no single leadership approach is the best. However, every task or situation requires a unique leadership strategy. The proponents of situational leadership theory suggest that leaders should adapt their style to the nature of a given task (Rath, & Conchie, 2013). After identifying the type of task, leaders need to gather all the necessary resources to facilitate the completion of the task. While transformational leadership changes persons to focus on team/ organizational needs rather than individuals, situational leadership calls on leaders to adapt to a team’s needs. As a result, it balances the whole organization by considering both organizations and employees’ needs.
In short, transformational, and situational leadership are essential in the healthcare system. Transformational aims to change a culture of doing things to achieve set goals, while situational leadership theory is required for isolated cases that require unique approaches.

Approach to Leadership
Given a position as a new leader in a public health organization, I will approach the leadership position using a unique style and style to help me achieve the organization’s goals within the required timeline and maintain a peaceful relationship between my team members and me. The first thing I will do is change my mindset and realize myself as a leader and being a leader, and I am supposed to portray all leadership qualities for me to manage my team members very well. Hence confidence, determination, and a strong will to win will always be my key attitudes, making sure I follow them. I will prefer to lead my team members using the transformational leadership style for leadership style.( Seitz & Owens,2021).
Transformational leadership is simply a type or style of leadership. A leader who works with team members to identify the needed change in the organization, create a vision to guide the change, mainly through inspiration, and finally execute the change tandem with committed members of the group. Thus I will value my team more, and I will always involve them in the decision-making process. Hence we will be organizing meetings, and everyone will be allowed to air his or her views (Rowitz, 2014). And in case of any problem among the team members, I will always step in, and we solve it amicably. The other important area of my style of leadership will be communication. Thus I will always be simplifying my information and breaking them down for the members of the team to understand them well and clearly know the vision of our organization, and as you all know, where, there if effective communication and instruction well understood, then the tendency of achieving set goals I always very right, because everyone will be always at the right place, at the right time and doing what he is required to do. (Jian,2021).
I will also practice the act of putting people first or charismatic hence; as a transformational leader and a leader who has great ambitions and visions for our organization, and I will always listen to my team members, address their issues without any discrimination, hence making everyone to feel valued and most importantly, I will be rewarding the ones who perform well, hence boosting the morale of other members so that they can also work more smart knowing that the boss will recognize their efforts and at least reward them (Rowitz, 2014). I will also be taking responsibility when things go wrong and provide constructive criticism to the team members, hence telling them what they are supposed to do or change; when things go right, I will be praising them and telling them to keep on with the spirit.( Çop,et al,2021).
